French basketball shines on the Olympic stage in Paris

The French men's basketball team delivered a remarkable Olympic campaign at Paris 2024, overcoming adversity and rising to the occasion in front of their home crowd to secure a silver medal.
After a challenging group stage in Lille, France found its rhythm during the knockout rounds, producing two outstanding performances against Canada and reigning world champions Germany. Fueled by the energy of their supporters, Les Bleus displayed resilience, defensive intensity and a collective determination that carried them all the way to the Olympic final.
Led by Victor Wembanyama, alongside experienced figures such as Nicolas Batum, Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier, France combined emerging talent with veteran leadership to compete against some of the world's strongest basketball nations.
Their journey culminated in a memorable final against the United States at Bercy Arena. Despite an inspired performance from Wembanyama and a determined effort from the entire squad, France ultimately fell 98-87 to an American team led by Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
Although Olympic gold remained out of reach, France secured its second consecutive silver medal, confirming its status as one of the world's leading basketball nations.
More than a sporting achievement, Paris 2024 became a defining moment for Les Bleus, bringing together an entire nation and inspiring the next generation of French basketball.
