RSSB Tigers make history in the Basketball Africa League

RSSB Tigers made history in Kigali by defeating Petro de Luanda 90-88 to win the 2026 Basketball Africa League championship. The victory made them the first Rwandan team ever to lift the BAL trophy.

Playing in front of their home crowd at BK Arena, the Tigers recovered from a difficult opening quarter to take control before halftime. The game remained incredibly close until the final moments, but the Rwandan side held on to complete a historic run in their debut BAL season.

Craig Randall II delivered the standout performance of the final with 33 points and was later awarded the Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy as the 2026 BAL MVP.

The victory capped a record-breaking sixth BAL season, with more than 110,000 fans attending games across South Africa, Morocco and Rwanda.
