Ferrari Triumphs in a Dramatic Lone Star Le Mans at COTA

The Lone Star Le Mans delivered six hours of high-speed drama under the Texas sun, with Ferrari claiming a first FIA World Endurance Championship victory of the 2026 season at the Circuit of The Americas.
The #50 Ferrari 499P AF Corse, shared by Miguel Molina, Antonio Fuoco and Nicklas Nielsen, took the chequered flag after a dramati
c late-race turnaround. With less than ten minutes remaining, Toyota’s #7 TR010 Hybrid appeared on course for victory, only for a hydraulic issue to force Nyck de Vries, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway into retirement.
The Toyota had been one of the stories of the race. Starting seventh, the #7 car fought its way through the Hypercar field, with de Vries delivering an impressive final stint to take the lead and build a six-second advantage over Ferrari.
But endurance racing can change in an instant.
Ferrari’s #50 inherited the lead and held on through the final laps to secure its first win of the season, while Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA’s #38 V-Series.R of Jack Aitken, Sébastien Bourdais and Earl Bamber finished second. Alpine completed the Hypercar podium with its #35 A424.
The race was shaped by changing conditions, two Safety Car periods and three Full Course Yellow interventions, adding another layer of strategy to an already unpredictable six-hour battle.
Off the track, the Texas atmosphere was just as impressive. A crowd of 69,204 fans filled the Circuit of The Americas for the only FIA WEC round held on American soil this season.
In LMGT3, Heart of Racing Team delivered a home victory, with the #27 Aston Martin Vantage LMGT3 Evo of Ian James, Zach Robichon and Mattia Drudi taking the class win.
From scorching temperatures to sudden showers, close battles and a victory decided in the final minutes, Lone Star Le Mans once again proved why endurance racing is about much more than speed — it is about surviving the unexpected until the very last lap.
The FIA WEC now heads to Japan for the 6 Hours of Fuji on September 27, with the championship fight still wide open.
